MY G1 SATHI.. The story of a revolution...

.... and so today it has been 2 months since I got back my jeevan sathi,after 1 month of her exile at some unknown filthy corner of an e-waste filled mobile repair shop.
Good to have u back darling.Yes ,after having broken the touch screen and an unsuccesful repair attempt here it is bak in my hands, still broken still WORKING....

As You must have guessed by now my G1 sathi is none other than my uber cool phone HTC G1.


Glancing back through the wheels of time I remember the day when I first laid my hands on this phone. Dated: **/12/2009(**='Forgot'), It was a memorable day for everyone in my family. Not because it was the day I got my phone. But bcoz it was the day when my bro, who haz been pursuing his career at an MNC in US,had returned home on vacation, much to the happiness of mom dad and me.This gift of his was just a gesture of added happiness to me.

The G1 ,a soon to be flesh and blood of any mobile lover ,was manufactured under the collaboration of Google, HTC and T mobile , 3 giants in their respective segments of the industry. Better known as the GOOGLE PHONE it was the first phone that came with the infamous google android. A master piece OS in itself , it just added to the beauty of my phone. T mobile G1 was a revolution in the mobile market. It redefined the meaning of a phone or rather a smartphone.A powerful communication phone packed with features and apps that not only provide an unmatched browsing experience but also one touch access to anything and everything u wana stay connected to.Backed by the powerful android OS,G1 ensures that one is never left behind when it comes to the race between technology and man kind.Considering my craze for gadgets ,G1 always gave me the feel that I was holding a next generation gadget in my hand,and it really made me proud.

What gave the Tmobile G1 such a huge success!! the answer is pretty clear , thanks to Google's new Android platform. Android ,which marked Google's head start in the mobile phone market, has given google a very firm grasp on the mobile market. The open source OS has become google's weapon in its competition with long time rival and competeter 'Apple'. And so far android has given them a market share double that of Apple a feat that is quiet impressive!!. The key revenue for google in this venture being nothing but a share in the advertisements that the mobile users are put through .In there quest for conquering the market google have started giving their software to anyone who can provide them with the hardware. In short it is google voicing " take the software if u have the hardware".An open source software with an open source marketing strategy.This is indeed taking its toll on the iphone.Today there are many critics n well wishers, looking forward to google, awaiting the launch of an android phone that is 1 step ahead of the present market leader- the IPHONE . Who knows that day might not be far ahead .

But just as every coin has 2 sides the open source nature of android can also ensue trouble for google in its torrential leap towards success. Till date all android phones come with google as the default search engine. But this neednt be so. Especially with the lauch of microsoft's " BING " search engine specially designed for android phones and Iphones .It seems microsoft is taking special interest in promoting its new search engine and making tie ups with mobile giants like motorolla to promote their engine.Even in the case of Iphones, which came with google as the default search engine , Apple was prompted to think again for an alternative for google's search engine as google themselves have jumped into a rivalry with Apple in the mobile market.So its just going to be a tuf time ahead for google and its supporters. A day might come when google will have to pay its allies to keep its hope for monopoly in search engines alive. Infact considering the success of an open source OS chinese mobile phone manufacturers may come up with something similar or even challenging , after all these petty software manufacturers are always on the look out for new ventures to improve their revenue.

Anyway as an android user all I can do is keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best for Android and its makers..
